Colorway on This Base
On Slub, ZenCha Matcha moves across an irregular surface rather than settling into one continuous field of green. Powdered matcha tones shift through pale cream, toasted golden-brown leaf notes, and occasional cooler shadows as the yarn’s changing construction receives and reveals color differently.
The textured base remains visibly present between areas of dye, giving the colorway a layered, material quality. Rather than reading as one uniform matcha green, the skein holds several impressions at once — powder, leaf, milk, and shadow.
Individual Variation
Each ZenCha Matcha skein develops its own balance of color and placement. Some skeins may appear more milk-forward, others more leaf-forward, while some carry deeper green or stronger toasted notes.

Field Notes
ZenCha Matcha began with the quiet ritual of preparing matcha — powder gathered into a bowl, water added slowly, the surface changing as it is worked into foam.
I wanted the colorway to hold that same sense of movement and stillness: pale milkiness, leaf-green depth, soft powder, and the occasional darker note that appears as the mixture shifts.
Origin Notes
Matcha is a finely ground green tea traditionally associated with Japanese tea culture. Its preparation depends on a relationship between material and gesture: powdered tea, water, bowl, whisk, temperature, and deliberate movement all shape the final experience.
Its color is not a single flat green. Matcha can shift through vivid leaf tones, softer vegetal greens, pale foam, and deeper shadow depending on the tea, preparation, light, and vessel. That layered visual language informed the palette of ZenCha Matcha.
