Hand-Dyed Yarn Crafted with Meaning

Every skein tells a story.

Yarnthropology was born from a life of wandering — a practice of turning moments, memories, and places into color. What began with a single hand-knit hat became a journey through pigment, fibre, and meaning.

A Nomad´s Keepsake

Inspiring yarn stories from ancient, hidden places.

What´s in a Thread?

We exclusively dye protein fibres—like silk, alpaca, mohair, and nylon blends—because they take colour like nothing else.

Our yarns are responsibly sourced from mills that prioritize ethical farming, animal welfare, and sustainable processing. Each base is selected for softness, durability, and story:

✓ Silk from China, prized for its strength and lustre
✓ Mohair from RMS-certified farms in South Africa
✓ Alpaca from small producers in the Peruvian Andes
✓ Nylon from Germany, used in blends for resilience

We believe transparency deepens connection. Every skein begins with respect—for land, people, and animals.

To honour that origin, we’ve created a guide to help you care for your yarn—so its story can endure.

The Alchemy of Hue

Our yarns are hand-dyed in small batches using acid dyes and eco-conscious methods—filtered, neutralized, and heat-set to ensure rich, lasting color.

We believe color tells the story, and the process behind it matters.
